A Hidden Memorial to Vegas area Civil Rights: The F Street Bridge

The "F" Street bridge is closer then you may think. It is used to connect the historic westside neighborhood to the downtown area. It is only a few hundred yards from the Freemont Street Experience and is almost directly underneath our infamous spaghetti bowl.

It is not like most bridges. Its significance isn't due to the amount of traffic it supports, or what it connects. Its offers something a little more.

The F Street bridge, memorializes the cultural contributions of the historic westside neighborhood and the short but iconic run of the long gone Moulin Rouge Casino. The bridge opened in 2014 at a cost of over 13 million dollars.

The design itself is an homage to Rouge, famous for being billed as the "first racially integrated casino" in town. It includes 2 fifty foot towers modeled after the casino structure. It also includes 12 historic murals that depict life in segregation era America. Notable influencers such as Nat King Cole and Louis Armstrong are brought back to life in these beautiful collages.
